In 2016, both of the rating agencies: Moody's and Fitch upheld PGE S.A.'s long-term rating at investment level

As an entity using various types of external financing, including debt securities, PGE uses the services of rating agencies, which assign credit worthiness scores to borrowers, i.e. ratings. In short, rating is an assessment of a debtor's ability to fully service debt, i.e. repay interest and principal. To assess credit worthiness, rating agencies have adopted multi-level grading scales based on letter markings (traditionally three letters, with AAA or Aaa denoting the highest grade).

PGE S.A. holds ratings issued at PGE's request by two rating agencies: Fitch Ratings Ltd. ("Fitch") and Moody’s Investors Service Limited ("Moody’s").

In 2016, both of the rating agencies: Moody's and Fitch upheld PGE S.A.'s long-term rating at investment level (investment level means that in the assesment of the rating agency the company’s debt is characterized by relatively low risk of lack of timely payment of interest, nominal amount of debt or additional provisions). The ratings were Baa1 and BBB+, respectively, both with a stable outlook. In their rating opinions, both of the agencies emphasise that ratings were upheld because of PGE S.A.'s strong position in the Polish energy sector. The ratings assigned by both of the agencies confirm PGE S.A.'s long-term credibility on the capital and credit markets.
